K- DRAMA SERIESHOW MUCH I ENJOY IT vs. HOW I RATE IT (of 1. Anything (2. 01. 6)1%. How refreshing to have a drama built entirely around the sweet, realistic development of a modern romance between two professional adults, while cutting out the aggravation, angst, and filler that often pad out a drama’s running time. Decent effort at making a sentimental ghostly- possession story, mucky execution. Love the theme and tone, despite flaws in structure.

Low- key, slice- of- life, hint of dolor. The relationships that spring up between the five housemates are fresh, winsome, and complicated in a nicely satisfying way. I wish they’d given it more production value, because the content was a breath of fresh air. Cold plot.(5 / 5)All In (2. It was almost swallowed by its own hype, but there’s a reason why every revenge/success/empire story tries to emulate this one. Kim Hee- sun is awesome as a kickass fake high schooler, but Ji- soo steals the show as a tough guy with marshmallow center. Wait, is that not the moral of the story?

The concept isn’t as fresh the third time around, but the relationships will stick with you for a long, long time. A ruthless editor would have done wonders. Heartwarming and nostalgic, but also makes you tear your hair out. Captures the pounding fervor and emotional extremes of youth with humor and heart.

Sharply written, with affection. Quirky, dark, sweetly satisfying.

A faster plot would’ve done wonders. Starts out bloody and badass, but winds down into predictable and safe. Cute chemistry from the leads and funny situations, although the workplace storylines drag the thing down. Fantastically directed to infuse even the most mundane moments with energy, with a career- defining performance by Ji Hyun- woo.

The Lego Movie is a 2014 3D computer-animated adventure comedy film written for the screen and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from a story by Lord.

Lost interest after episode 6. Heart- warming and hilarious as this motley mock family becomes a real one, without dipping into cheesiness. Kim Myung- min is a hoot. Story drove me nuts. If only we got there!

Should’ve been more moving, more powerful, more sensical. Draggy plot, painfully green acting. Namgoong Min is delightfully weird, and Minah cutely offbeat. The “mystery” is overplayed and the chaebols are fairly one- note, but turn your brain off in those scenes and the show is good breezy fun. Feel- good and satisfying. Hits that rom- com sweet spot.

Akin to an emotional drive- by. Perhaps more violent. Still, the leads have adorable chemistry. This one has comedy, a nice episodic pace, and most importantly, a lot of heart. One of my all- time faves. Yeah, good luck with that.

Cute, sexy, and fun. The fandom frenzy was sometimes more fun than the show itself.

By all accounts this should have been a disaster, but the sum of its parts is better than you’d think—you’ll be screaming at your screen while reaching for the next episode. Nothing new, but a good family drama with a fresh- faced foursome in a compelling love square. There isn’t much actual plot, but it’s an introspective watch with heartwarming relationships. Simple but sweet. Messy execution can dull the shine from the coming- of- age poignancy, but the feel- good nature has a way of warming the cockles.

Worth a watch for the performances, though I wish the action was as good as the written material. But the story lost focus and the production was thrown into backstage turmoil late in the game, fizzling out disappointingly. Had enough plot for eight episodes, but at twenty, it stretched my patience thin, despite my love for the amazing cast. Action, intrigue, humor, heart. Now I want every drama to be as badass and heartfelt. Damn you, City Hunter! Features loose plotting and a light feel, though second half gets heavier.

At times cheeky, at times poignant. Standout soundtrack. It’s too bad that only half the story was engaging (hers), while the other half suffered from bad writing (his). Adorable main couple, great supporting cast, easy to zip through.

Fun rapport between the agency family, breezy romance, and well- used cameos keep things zippy. A heavy hitter emotionally, though not in angst- ridden or melodramatic ways. It depicts the heartbreaking moments in everyday life, told in phenomenal performances by dramaland veterans.

Sometimes hard to watch, but often rewarding. Jae Hee is wonderful, and the directing is sharp. A sentimental favorite. Plot wasn’t much to speak of, but it had that sweet romance, endearing military bromance, and charming Song Joong- ki. Not really my cup of tea, but I recognize that it had a magic touch. But it also flows lightly and easily, making it a crowd- pleaser with a cast of mostly likable characters and a few who are fun to hate.

Satisfying and feel- good. Do they make a pill for that? Champ (2. 01. 0).

But the best thing about it? That camera. Made every shot moody, crisp, and stunning.

And there’s no denying the idea itself was intriguing. But taken straight, as a drama? More pain than fun.

A showcase for its idol cast; if only they were better actors, it could’ve been even better. Earnest in the best way. It tries both too hard and not enough. The adult storylines had great potential, but landed in a spin cycle of the same conflict for dozens and dozens of episodes. I watched with fervor but am still waiting for my refund for the hours I spent. Slick and beautifully shot, but emotionally feels empty.

Cute, but forgettable. A fascinating look at how money corrupts, with memorable performances.

Pacing was sluggish, the characters frustratingly dislikable. This is a remake that got it all wrong. Main couple is sweet, but it’s really the ex- girlfriends with strong personalities who add the pep and zing. Kang Ji- hwan is the only good thing here. At least the leads and their romantic connection hold up their end; the rest tends to plod along. Sci Fi Thriller Movies Ana Maria In Novela Land (2015).

Only I wouldn’t sit through all the episodes again. It did lose steam toward the end and the romance took on an oddly juvenile bent, emotionally.

But sweet and enjoyable overall. Its humor overdoes the slapstick, but the Hong sisters writers keep the plot moving. The humor lost me, and the chemistry never went past tepid. It didn’t help that I hated the main character. Takes some frustrating plot turns that may have you reaching for something to break. As SBS’s banner show for its makjang- free policy, it tries a little too hard to be so free of conflict that it errs on the side of bland.

Vanilla, but sweet. The first half is pitch- perfect, balancing humor and insight; the second half drags. Wish the plot hadn’t lost steam in the end. Jung Il- woo is a hoot.

Plot spins its wheels a bit, but it’s sweet and funny. Cheeky in the best way. Witty with a touch of dark humor.

Set in a funeral home, it gives lovely, quirky insights on life and death. Pleasant, with gorgeous leads Won Bin and Fukada Kyoko, but unexceptional. It’s overrated (plot becomes repetitive), but enjoyable. This show has major stones, venturing dark and grim to fearless degrees. It’s not perfect—though its grand, stirring culmination more than makes up for earlier missteps.

The slow pace and lack of surprise can be frustrating, but it offers an intensive psychological study of some damaged characters. Doesn’t have time to really get you in the heart, but sets up a great world. If this is the future of cable, I’m onboard.

The plot’s just there as a vehicle for the acting and the cute. Plot’s overly convoluted, but strong performances and speedy pace keep it exciting.

What could go wrong? OH, THAT ENDING. Too bad the plot spun itself into a destructive tornado. Then I’ll be forced to answer. Oh, who are we kidding; Jung Il- woo, it’s all your fault. Cult Movie Clips Barely Lethal (2015).

I want my hours back. Banking isn’t that sexy, but the writing and performances are solid. Black (2. 01. 6). Not that I can defend the show, not even for the actors, who are normally so much better.

Illuminati symbolism and analysis of . It revolves around the difficulty of the protagonist couple played by Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman as they struggle with themes of sexuality, monogamy, and distinguishing the difference between dreams and reality (hence the name Dream Novella). With all of the theories involved with Stanley Kubrick’s films, (such as The Shining, of which I have an in- depth breakdown and explanation for in my The Shining symbolic analysis post), EWS appears to follow along the same path of a hidden expose. I’ll pull together an all- encompassing post to cover as many of the relevant theories for the film, including my theory that it is based on the Illuminati- shadow group’s obsession with goddess worship. Kubrick worked on the film’s script for almost 3. You can watch the full expose (with more images) here on my You.

Tube channel. His unforeseen death a few months prior to the release of the film stoked conspiracy theories that the Illuminati took him out because he simply revealed too much this time. Warner Bros went on record as having digitally altered several scenes post- production and claim that it was in order to get an R- rating, even though we’ve never seen the uncut version. So did Kubrick intend to convey a message of elite obsession with goddess worship through magical sexual orgies? I think so. Before I get into the different aspects of the film, I’d like to introduce a few pieces that influenced and help me get through the film that I’ll reference in the breakdown later. Introducing Sociology A Review of Eyes Wide Shut by Tim Kreider. Tim Kreider is an essayist and cartoonist who provides commentary via multiple channels.

He provided a great, in- depth essay on the film and some of the theories behind it symbolism, which can be retrieved at Visual- Memory. I highly suggest reading his essay, but I will refer to it a few times throughout this post. Here’s a great paragraph to show what I’m talking about on how well it is written: The real pornography in this film is in its lingering depiction of the shameless, naked wealth of millennial Manhattan, and of its obscene effect on society and the human soul.

National reviewers’ myopic focus on sex, and the shallow psychologies of the film’s central couple, the Harfords, at the expense of every other element of the film- the trappings of stupendous wealth, its references to fin- de- siecle Europe and other imperial periods, its Christmastime setting, even the sum Dr. Harford spends on a single night out- says more about the blindness of the elites to their own surroundings than it does about Kubrick’s inadequacies as a pornographer. For those with their eyes open, there are plenty of money shots. The. Konformist. com posted up an interpretation by Adam Gorightly that sees the film as one in which Kubrick tries to expose MK ULTRA mind programming into sex slaves. This idea of MONARCH programming has been postulated in musical acts such as Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. The sources that claim this programming exists (e. Cathy O’Brien) say that the programming starts at a young age, which is what we witness with the prevalence of former Disney Mickey Mouse Club members who become stars such as Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

We see Alice grooming her daughter, Helena throughout the film to follow in her footsteps, which could arguably be to become the next sex slave or goddess. There are several other good articles and references including Vigilant. Citizen and Jay’s. Analysis. Let’s get into it now. Alice Harford (Nicole Kidman’s character) is standing between two sets of columns/pillars which some say are symbolic of Boaz and Jachin, the two pillars that were at the entrance to Solomon’s Temple (and see in Freemason temples, which is explained further in the Decoding Illuminati Symbolism: Saturn and the Black Cube, & Saturn Worship post). It’s also theorized that the drapes behind her are symbols for the pyramid; an esoteric Illuminati symbol. The villain in Dan Brown’s book The Lost Symbol has Boaz and Jachin tattooed on his legs; and the name of the villain is Mal’akh, which is a reformed version of the name of the ancient horned deity Moloch (or Molech) as well.

Alice Harford is the female protagonist in this film, and it should be noted that her red hair is synonymous with the Scarlet Woman that Aleister Crowley identified as the the goddess of his religion, Thelema. The Scarlet Woman represents the female sexual impulse and liberated woman, which Alice Harford alludes to desiring to be in her true form later in the film.

She is representative of female goddesses, and the occult just love to have symbolism revolving around the Triple Goddess (three forms of goddess; one of which is the Earth Mother, aka Scarlet Woman, aka Babalon). We’ll revisit this again when we meet Alice and Bill’s daughter.

William Harford; or . This implies that she has been enlightened by the illuminated ones.

This theme will pop up throughout as she gives us this hint of being in the know through the film. When you’re watching the film, note the size and beauty of the Harford apartment. It has been speculated that this proves Bill’s connection to these elite types who help support this standard of living. Tim Kreider’s article says the following: Kubrick and his collaborator, Frederic Raphael, discussed exactly how much money a New York doctor like Bill Harford must earn per year. The Harfords’ standard of living raises questions about their money, and where it comes from–from Bill’s sparsely scheduled private practice, or the sorts of under- the- table services we see rendered upstairs at the party?

Harford is on call to that class of person who can afford not to wait in emergency rooms or die in hospitals–people like his friend Victor Ziegler, whose name denotes him as one of the world’s winners. It’s all part of painting the scene of a world much disconnected from the other 9. The comparisons are also drawn between the mysteriously well- to- do Harfords against the much better off Ziegler. Later you see the pinnacle of the elite (the Rothschilds) in the Somerton mansion which blows the other ones away.

The first instance where Alice displays her superior goddess status is that of her knowledge and awareness (as opposed to Bill’s) when he asks where his wallet is, and she knows it’s on his nightstand. She has the knowledge, while he is clueless. About a minute later, he asks what the name of the babysitter is, even though she literally just told him her name when she asked if he gave the phone numbers for Roz. In the opening scene we see Alice and Bill’s daughter, Helena: The name Helen has ties to the ancient pagans because of Helen of Troy in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Zeus and the most beautiful woman in the world. She also has red hair which is also symbolic of the Scarlet Woman again.

The name Helena could be inspired by Aleister Crowley yet again, this time through the Gnostic Catholic Church, which is not a Christian church, but rather another occult organization stemming from Crowley’s Thelema, and affiliated with the Ordo Templi Orientis secret society. One of the prominent members of the church is named Helena Apiryon, and she wrote their creed in 1. And I believe in one Earth, the Mother of us all, and in one Womb wherein all men are begotten, and wherein they shall rest, Mystery of Mystery, in Her name BABALON.

And I believe in the Serpent and the Lion, Mystery of Mystery, in His name BAPHOMET. Here we see the name Babalon, which refers to the Scarlet Woman (which we’ll see shape shifting here in a few minutes.
